Winning Moves is delighted to be working with the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) to evaluate two of their skills programmes.
The national retraining scheme is the government’s new programme to help adults retrain into better jobs and be ready for future changes to the economy, including those brought about by automation. The WMCA is leading the Implementation of two initiatives in the West Midlands:
- Construction Gateway – an employer-led initiative covering technical construction skills and wider support, to help people into jobs and careers in the construction industry
- Digital Skills Pilot – a suite of pilot projects to test actions and incentives that will encourage individuals to take up new digital skills training opportunities and to encourage employers to recruit those trained.
The WMCA has asked Winning Moves to evaluate the Construction Gateway and the Digital Skills Pilot to understand the outcomes and early impacts of the initiatives and the process by which activities were delivered to understand what works and why.
Michelle Hollier, Director of Research and Evaluation at Winning Moves said “We are really pleased to be working with the WMCA for the first time and are looking forward to understanding how these initiatives are supporting employment in the area and responding to the opportunities offered by new technologies.”
