Research & Evaluation Associate Director

Public Policy / Government Services

Are you passionate about the role of evidence in improving the effectiveness of public policies and government services? Do you want to work for a socially conscious research and evaluation consultancy and be instrumental in our growth story? Then join the Winning Moves team and work with us to help our clients to bring about positive, transformative societal change. We inform and support better tomorrows through digital, data and know-how.

We are Winning Moves, a Midlands based, fast-growing research and evaluation consultancy with evidence at the heart of everything we do. Governments trust our insights to inform their policy and service decisions and improvement. Through the development and implementation of robust, high-quality research and evaluation, we help our clients to tackle some of society’s toughest challenges. A method agnostic consultancy, our core domain expertise encompasses energy and the environment (including net zero), digital and innovation, and industry and enterprise. We are now keen to expand into new policy areas

We need a talented practitioner to win, design and deliver high quality and profitable social research and evaluation that complements our current portfolio of work.

Some of the things we’d like you to do include:

>      Identify, create and respond to opportunities to grow our research and evaluation activities in line with our growth strategy. You will be instrumental in growing our reputation and reach and driving our sales through targeted business development activity.

>      Direct, and lead high quality and profitable research and evaluation projects. Maintaining full intellectual engagement with projects you are leading, you will have ultimate responsibility for the quality of service, identify and manage risks (to value, quality and reputation) and ensure client needs and business needs are fully met.

>      Delight our clients. Using research and evaluation, including a high level of interpretation and direction, you will add value to our clients’ activities and ensure that our work meets or exceeds their expectations.

>      Develop our staff of today into our stars of the future. By managing and coaching others in our team, you will help them to realise their developmental potential.

A bit about yourself: as well being able to do all the things mentioned above, you will have at least eight years’ experience of working client or agency side in a similar role. You are an accomplished researcher and evaluator with an impressive reputation, strong client base and range of working partnerships. An uncompromising approach to quality and excellent communication skills underpins your ability to nurture and grow client relationships. You are efficient at keeping abreast of best practice and UK Government social research and evaluation practice and thrive on the opportunity to innovate and improve. With strong commercial acumen, you can also develop it in others. Success of writing winning tenders and growing revenue is a must.

What you can expect at Winning Moves: The opportunity to be an instrumental senior manager of a fast-paced consultancy with ambitious plans to double in size over three years. A rewarding role, you will direct and deliver high profile, contemporary and challenging research and evaluation projects. You will work collaboratively alongside a great bunch of committed, clever, ambitious people who reflect our values in all that they do: different, better, faster. We also promise you an employer that invests in your career, consults you and gives you space to do amazing work.
