Winning Moves was delighted to attend and support the tenth International Benchmarking Conference (IBCON) in Nanjing, China on 8th December 2016.
The Conference was designed to support local government, research institutions, enterprises, service organisations and business advisers of Jiangsu to familiarise, understand and use benchmarking management tools to improve the operational level of key areas like organisation strategy, innovation, research and experimental development, processing, manufacturing and marketing. Around 200 businesses from Jiangsu were represented.
Amongst other internationally renowned authorities in the field of benchmarking speaking at the Conference, our Products Director, Mark Modena, was invited to give a key note address. Many businesses in the audience has already been introduced to the benefits that benchmarking offers having already experienced the BenchmarkIndex® service. The speech provided more information about the Index for those organisations present that had yet to use the service, with the aim of increasing their knowledge and assisting Jiangsu Productivity Center (JSPC), the local licensee, to continue to grow the service locally.
Mark was also honoured to be invited to judge the entries of the finalists of the annual GBN Global Benchmarking Award. The entries were all exceptional, with Al Jazeera Catering from Abu Dhabi narrowly coming out on top over NMIMS University from India and Chinese representatives Nanjing Metro Operation Company. Mark commented that “The IBCON Conference is a worthy celebration of benchmarking and the power it delivers, clearly showcasing how this methodology can have far reaching positive impact for those that truly embrace it.
The background to Winning Moves involvement in this important region in China is the Benchmarking Centre set up by out partner Fraunhofer IPK with JSPC back in 2013. A cornerstone element of the service developed is BenchmarkIndex®, and already more than 1,000 enterprises have participated. In fact, it has been so well received that the license has just been extended by a further 2 years until the end of December 2018. Winning Moves looks forward to continuing the cooperation with JSPC to help them continue to embed benchmarking as a key strategic tool to help advance the regional economy in their key sectors such as manufacturing, textiles, chemicals and food processing.
